The Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 is the whisky that pioneered cask finishing. Malt Master David Stewart developed the technique in 1982: whisky spends at least 12 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, then nine months in Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks, then marries in large oak tuns.
Smooth, mellow and beautifully balanced, it is one of the best-loved Speyside single malts and an excellent gift for anyone exploring Scotch.
